Henry County has several options for exploration in the Great Outdoors!
Westwood Park
Westwood Park boasts a 180-acre lake and has a 6-mile horse trail featuring scenic views and rolling terrain. The park’s mountain bike trail is among Indiana’s most popular trails, with a 10-mile loop open to hikers and riders.
The park also has 38 campsites with water and electric hookups for tents and RVs
Summit Lake State Park
This beautiful State Park surrounds a large lake and includes campsites, boat ramps, and hiking trails. The park is noted as one of the best locations in Indiana for fishing and is also loved by bird watchers. Swimming is available in the summertime.
Skate Park
Designed by Hunger Skateparks, the New Castle Skate Park is located adjacent to Baker Park and boasts 13,000 square feet with multiple elevations to accommodate skateboards, bikes, and even scooters. There is also an observation deck for those who want to check out the action.
Henry County Memorial Park
This park is on the National Register of Historic Places, featuring a Veterans’ Museum and several war monuments, including a refurbished originals Doughboy statue from WW1. There are fishing ponds, hiking trails, and shelter houses ideal for picnics and gatherings. Memorial Park also hosts the 4H fairgrounds, a golf course, and the Henry County Saddle Club.
Red Tail Nature Preserve Locations
Several of these natural sanctuaries are open to the public, offering wildlife watching in wetland and wooded areas.
Knightstown Canoe Launch
Launch your canoe or kayak from this scenic location on 4th Street and S. Washington Street. There is also a deck for those who are interested in just spending time near the Big Blue River.
Wilbur Wright Fish and Wildlife Area
This area consists of 1,070 acres of expansive river land and mature woods. The Big Blue and Little Blue Rivers are stocked annually with trout, and a boat ramp is available. The area is also popular with hunters and wildlife watchers.
Shooting ranges are open to the public on a first-come first served basis.

This trail is under construction and starts on the west side of Middletown at Mechanicsburg Road. Honey Creek Trail will connect Middletown’s three parks.
